Metacognition Program
Our Metacognition Program helps each student "learn how they learn" by understanding and sharing their unique learning strengths and needs, providing them with the self-awareness and self-advocacy required for success in college.
College Guidance ProgramStarting in the spring of grade 11, our Director of College Guidance holds several individual meetings with each student and his or her family to assist them in finding the student's best fit college.
Writing Courses
All students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 take year-long writing courses that meet every other day, as effective writing skills are a critical component of college success.
Core Curriculum
Woodlynde students must complete four years each of English, History, and Mathematics and at least three years each of Science and World Languages. Seniors choose to take a fourth year of either Science or World Language. Many choose to take a fourth year of both.
Honors and Advanced Placement Courses Honors sections move more quickly and go more in-depth than our standard college-prep sections and are available at every grade level in English, History, Mathematics, and Science. Seniors may take AP English. Independent study options are also available and are evaluated and arranged on a case-by-case basis.
Extracurricular Requirement
Activities and Athletics are integral parts of school life as they develop talents, build social skills, and foster school pride. Every student must participate in at least one approved extracurricular activity each year, although many choose to pursue other interests beyond the requirement. Most students join one of our
sports teams, participate in
drama productions, write for
The Informer school newspaper, or perform 50 hours of community service.
Dual-Enrollment CoursesQualifying seniors have the opportunity to earn college credits while at Woodlynde via a dual-enrollment partnership with Cabrini University and Landmark College.
