Middle and Upper School Reading Specialist
Woodlynde School seeks a Middle and Upper School Reading Specialist to advocate and enhance the learning (specifically: reading) experience of every student through collaboration with learning specialists, teachers, students and parents and to promote all aspects of the Woodlynde Mission.
Essential Job Functions:
- To work with identified students, either individually or in small classroom settings to bolster reading needs, including, but not limited to providing instruction in decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension
- To aid teachers and students in the selection of appropriate, high interest reading materials
- To make recommendations to parents in those cases where outside intervention is warranted
- To make recommendations to parents on how to reinforce reading skills at home
- To teach one reading and writing course in the Upper School
- To periodically and regularly assess the reading profiles of students in Middle and Upper School and make recommendations for intervention based on the results
- To familiarize him/herself with the reading profiles of all students in the upper team in Lower School who are about to transition into our Middle School program
- To work with the families of those students prior to or during the first month of the school year in order to develop a reading plan and prognosis for the students
- To do the same for all newly admitted students in Middle and Upper Schools
- To meet weekly with the entire CLTPD team during scheduled meeting times
- To meet weekly with the Director of the CLTPD in order to ensure the most efficient and effective mode of service delivery
- To communicate regularly with teachers, learning specialists and parents regarding student progress
- To regularly attend grade level team meetings
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Education
- Reading Specialist Certification
- Wilson Certification
- Lindamood Bell training preferred
- Demonstrated working knowledge of intervention programs such as Read Naturally
- Demonstrated expertise in administering reading assessments

Assistant to Director of the Center for Learning, Teaching and Professional Development
Woodlynde School is seeking the following half time position:
- register participants for Parent series events
- order room set up for all parent events coming out of CLTPD
- order food or beverage service for those events if necessary or shop for food or
beverage service
- keep up the mailing list for parent events
- send out invitations to events in a timely fashion, including printing labels for
mailing and organizing mailing before sending
- when we re-organize the LDInfo site, keep up the professional database within this
site
- occasionally schedule appointments, return calls on behalf of Director
- help plan the Resource Fair, including invitations, registrations, collecting fees,
ordering materials, ordering and overseeing room set up, food and beverage set up, and any
other aspects of the fair not mentioned here.
- help create a two day summer institute for professionals, to be held at Woodlynde and take responsibility for its organizational structure, including room assignments,
and all other operational aspects mentioned in resource fair section above.
- fulfill other miscellaneous duties as requested.
Programmer / Web Developer
Woodlynde School is seeking a programmer and web designer to support existing
applications and develop new systems for students, faculty, and staff.
Specific responsibilities would include:
- Support for existing web-based applications
- Design new web-based applications
- Update content on school web site
- Update content on LD Info web site
- Revise and Maintain content of school Intranet web site
- Design Internet forms and surveys as needed
- Assist faculty in setting up personal web pages
- Conduct training sessions for faculty and staff about updating and improving their web pages
- Develop training materials to support web applications or school web sites
- Support web-based calendars
- Teach programming electives to Upper School students
- Assist with routine technology support in the school
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Multiple scripting languages, such as JavaScript, VB Script, Perl or PHP
- Object Oriented programming, either C++, Java or VB.NET
- HTML markup including CSS
- Dreamweaver or comparable web editor
- Fireworks, Photoshop, or comparable image editor
- XML a plus
