|  | Starting in the 2012-2013 School Year, FOUNDATIONS at Woodlynde School will be our new full-day Kindergarten through 2nd Grade program. As its name suggests, FOUNDATIONS will provide students with a strong, research-based foundation in reading and mathematics in the most critical years of their educational career.
If you are concerned that your smart, creative child is not performing academically at his or her age-appropriate level, then they may need the specialized, early education program offered by FOUNDATIONS at Woodlynde School.

Does your child appear disorganized, have limited memory skills, or need verbal questions frequently repeated? Does your child have difficulty completing assignments in class, performing tasks independently, attempting new assignments, or remaining on task even after receiving additional instructions?
Focus and Attention
Does your child have difficulty concentrating, participating in activities that require listening, or following verbal directions? Does your child rush through assignments with little attention to accuracy, quality, or neatness.

 | Highlights of the FOUNDATIONS Program Include:
- A small, nurturing class size of no more than 10 students per grade.
- A dedicated staff of 1.5 master teachers with special education,reading specialist, and/or early childhood education certification per classroom.
- A balanced approach to literacy including Wilson "Fundations ®", Wilson Reading System, guided reading, comprehension strategies, and other reading activities.
- Research-based math instruction including manipulatives (e.g. Digiblocks).
- A full age-appropriate science and social studies curriculum.
- A specially designed physical education program incorporating more physical therapy/occupational therapy-types of activities and less team sports.
- Art and music programs formulated specifically for Early Learners.
