Woodlynde Students have traditionally demonstrated great interest and talent in the Creative Arts. Through five key areas of focus – Fashion Design, Journalism, Music, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts – students have the opportunity to not only further their current abilities, but also to expand their interests and talents into new areas.
Fashion Design From concept to craft, from design to display, Fashion Design is one of Woodlynde's most popular Creative Arts programs. Students learn from expert teachers on all aspects of fashion design and manufacturing, with their efforts culminating at Woodlynde's Annual Spring Fashion Show.
Journalism Woodlynde School boasts an award-winning student newspaper, The Informer. This monthly publication is created entirely by students in the Upper School and also includes active video production and social media tracks. To learn more about The Informer, visit their website. Another favorite student publication is the Aurora yearbook.
Music and Performing Arts Students are inspired to challenge their limits, build self-confidence, and unite their community in support of their fellow performers. Each Division at Woodlynde stages a major drama, comedy, or musical production during the school year. These productions are supplemented by a variety of other performances throughout the year, such as concerts, the popular Fall Talent Show, and the Spring Coffee House.
Visual Arts Woodlynde's Visual Arts Program offers a range of media, including printmaking, book arts, photography, drawing, painting, and ceramics. Each Division has a certified art teacher who incorporates history and art appreciation into each lesson. Students who wish to pursue art after graduation may choose to be an art major during their senior year to focus on portfolio presentation. |
