2020-2021 School Year Planning

Woodlynde School is committed to transparency in our 2020-2021 school year planning.
 
Given concerns about a spike in cases following late summer and Labor Day travel, both CCHD and CHOP PolicyLab are recommending that schools carefully monitor metrics throughout September and delay on-campus instruction until the first week of October. Woodlynde School will begin the 2020-2021 academic year on September 8, 2020 in Tier 4 with virtual learning in place for all students. We will monitor weekly case incidence rates and the 7-day rolling average of test positivity cases for the first two weeks of school, consult the guidance of CCHD and CHOP PolicyLab, and determine when to welcome students back on campus for in-person instruction at that point. Our expectation is that we will bring students in the Lower School back first, followed by our Middle School and Upper School students. Our hope is to begin bringing students back as soon as possible with all grades on campus by early October, with a hybrid model in place for our Upper School, as outlined in our Woodlynde School’s Return to Campus Plan 2020-2021
 
       Key Dates:
  • September 8, 2020: Computer and supply pick-up for all students (Details will be shared next week by Assistant Head of School K-8, Elizabeth Maglio and Assistant Head of School 9-12, Dorinda Shank)
  • September 8 - 18, 2020: Virtual learning for all students (Tier 4)

The Woodlynde School Planning Team has worked tirelessly to develop a thorough plan to support a safe return to campus as well as a robust virtual learning program that provides students with the signature strengths of a Woodlynde School education. While we recognize that being together on campus is a critical component of what makes our school community and our program special, we are confident that our new virtual program provides excellence in all areas of instruction and upholds our commitment to social-emotional wellbeing.

Woodlynde School is a private, co-ed college prep day school located in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that serves intelligent, talented students with learning differences in grades K - 12. Woodlynde provides a comprehensive, evidence-based Kindergartenelementarymiddle and high school program in a challenging yet nurturing environment for students with average to above average cognitive abilities (IQ) who have language- or math-based learning differences (such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia), Executive Function Challenges, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Auditory Processing Disorder. Even for those students without a diagnosed learning disability (LD), Woodlynde offers expert and caring teachers in small classroom settings that support academic success. Woodlynde School also offers a post-graduate (PG) program in partnership with Rosemont College as well as a regional Summer Camp for students who learn differently.
