College Search Is Challenging During a Pandemic
With the pandemic and all the craziness of this year, the college process could be expected to be a little more strenuous than usual.

With the pandemic and all the craziness of this year, the college process could be expected to be a little more strenuous than usual.
Mr. Hoffman, Woodlynde School’s Director of College Guidance, said that “it’s been incredibly hard to visit schools on campus. College visits are an integral part of the whole process and without being able to visit, students are missing out on a key step in the process.”
When asked in mid-November how seniors are handling the college admissions process, he said, “Overall, I am quite pleased with the Class of 2021.
They have worked incredibly hard during this pandemic to research schools and submit applications. Not everyone is completely finished with their applications, but they are all focused on finding the appropriate educational home after Woodlynde.”

When asked about his experience with the process this year, senior Victor Vernick said, “Besides college visits being different in terms of social distancing and smaller groups, it feels normal applying wise.”
Senior Nic Park, when asked the same question, commented, “The application process has been an easy process. I was able to get all of my applications in at the beginning of October. It is nice that the school has waived test scores and application fees for this year. Not having test scores will benefit me because when I took the SAT, I did not do so well.”
While there are more challenges this year, the Class of 2021 seems to be putting in a lot of effort that is worthwhile in the college application process.
