Board Chair Announces Woodlynde's Next Head of School

Dear Woodlynde Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Amy L. Clemons as the next head of Woodlynde School.

Amy has a Master of Education degree and 20-year career working in independent schools, including tenures at St. Paul's School, Concord, NH; The Community School of Naples, Naples, FL; Renbrook School, West Hartford, CT; and most recently in her current role as Director of Enrollment Management at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA. Amy has been a fundraising director, admissions leader, senior administrator on her schools' management teams, and instrumental in the development and implementation of multiple new and successful school-wide strategic initiatives.

Amy is also the parent of a Woodlynde senior. She knows, firsthand, the full landscape of the field of learning differences; the educational and personal journey for a family with a child who learns differently; the student success that can be achieved at a school that truly focuses on the whole child; and Woodlynde's myriad attributes as the premier Main Line independent school for college-bound students who learn differently.

It was this personal experience, combined with the breadth and depth of Amy's professional accomplishments and the resounding positive feedback we received from those with whom Amy met during the search process, that led the Search Committee and Board of Trustees to select her as Woodlynde's next head of school.

In 2017, Woodlynde School was re-accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools, and their report cited the school's solid foundation of accomplishment as the basis for many opportunities for the future. In Amy's welcome letter, which you may read below, she notes how excited she is to be a part of that future and to lead us all into Woodlynde's next chapter of success.

We want to thank the members of the Search Committee for the countless hours they have dedicated to this critical process as well as the Board of Trustees for their support. We also want to thank the many members of the Woodlynde community - faculty, staff, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and professionals - who took the time to meet with our head of school candidates. Our thanks as well to Interim Head of School George N. King, Jr., a veteran head of school who has led Woodlynde this year to continued growth and success and who, with the Board of Trustees, will support Amy as she transitions into her new role on July 1, 2019, as Woodlynde School's next head of school.

Maryann O'Conor, Board Chair

Sarah Houston, Search Committee Chair
