Capstone Program

The Capstone Program at Woodlynde School, a post-graduate year in partnership with Rosemont College, prepares recent high school graduates for the demands of a full-time college program.
The Capstone Program is a unique educational opportunity that affords the student a number of academic benefits before enrolling as a full-time student. For instance, the Capstone Program differs from other post-graduate programs in the following ways:

  • In the mornings, students take two classes per semester at Rosemont College in the areas of social sciences, non-lab sciences, and humanities, giving students the opportunity to earn 12 college credits throughout the academic year.

  • Structured study periods will be provided in the afternoons at Woodlynde School under the direction of an expert learning specialist.

  • Direct instruction in math and writing will also be provided in the afternoons at Woodlynde School. Instruction will be based upon individualized student strengths and previous coursework in high school.
    • Overall, mathematics and written communication are two areas where first-year college students tend to experience the most difficulty. Having an additional year to hone these skills will ensure greater academic success.

  • All Capstone students will have access to Woodlynde School's expert College Guidance Program in order to continue to refine and select post-secondary educational options.

  • In order to facilitate the social transition to college, participation in one Rosemont College extracurricular activity is required.

  • To provide an individualized approach, The Capstone Program at Woodlynde School will be limited to five students per year.

  • Students who successfully complete the Program with a 3.0 GPA will receive guaranteed admission to Rosemont College.
