Woodlynde School created this page to be a source of information on preventative measures families can take regarding COVID-19, information on when students should not attend school, as well as a resource should the school need to amend its activities or close for a period of time. We continue to monitor new information daily and work closely with and take guidance from the Chester County Health Department. As always, our students’ education and well-being are our top priorities.

Prevent the Spread of Illness

We advise everyone in our community – students, staff, and families - to follow the same practices that help prevent the spread of the flu and other illnesses:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand cleaners that are at least 60-95% alcohol are effective.

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes. The main way that the flu and COVID-19 spreads is from person to person is in the droplets produced by coughs and sneezes, so it is important to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or cough/sneeze into your elbow or shoulder, not into your hands.

  • Do not to share personal items such as drinks, food, or utensils.

  • Do not attend school if you are sick. Any student or staff member who is determined to be sick while at school will be immediately sent home.

  • Keep sick individuals at home for at least 24 hours after there is no longer a fever or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medicine like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

When to Keep Your Child at Home

  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours. Stay Home until symptom free for 24 hours.

  • Temperature of 100 degrees or more within the past 24 hours (without Tylenol or other anti-fever medication). Stay home until fever free for 24 hours.

  • When strep is suspected, but the results of a throat culture are not yet known.

  • A positive throat culture for strep: student should be on antibiotic treatment for 24 hours before returning to school.

Bus Transportation

If your child uses bus transportation from a neighboring school district to get to Woodlynde School, please keep up with that district’s plans, like you do for snow days. Districts may close leaving your child without their usual mode of transport to school.
