The first of two programs presented by social-emotional learning coach Caroline Maguire is geared to parents of students in middle school through high school who have learning differences, special needs and/or anxiety.

Social and emotional learning or SEL is more important, and more difficult, than ever due to the pandemic. Helping children manage their own behaviors and emotions, build relationships, and make good decisions will be detailed in this presentation.
Older children have a different experience of school closure, social distancing, school reopening (but looking different), the unfamiliar pace or format of learning, and the possibility of more disruptions in the future. Caroline will provide scripts to follow when talking to tweens and teens about difficult issues. Coping with feelings and resolving conflict is a top priority now as we experience anxiety from events that are often beyond our control.

A CHADD certified coach, Caroline founded and facilitates a comprehensive SEL training methodology (#ConnectionMatters) for adults, parents, clinicians, and academic professionals on how to develop critical social, emotional and communication skills, in themselves and in others. Caroline’s book Why Will No One Play With Me? is a playbook that includes foolproof scripts on how to communicate – with anyone, in any situation – and how to ensure the message registers with the recipient – no small task! Through her private practice, publications, lectures and workshops, her mission is to vanquish the devastating effects of feeling different and misunderstood or adolescents to read the room and interpret social cues as well as how to recognize other people’s point of view. Woodlynde School is a private, co-ed college prep day school located in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that serves intelligent, talented students with learning differences in grades K - 12.
