Dear Woodlynde Families,
As you know, we have been continuing to monitor the rapidly changing information regarding COVID-19. This afternoon, Governor Wolf announced the closing of all Montgomery County schools for the next two weeks. In addition, an increasing number of colleague independent schools have announced their own school closures through the end of Spring Break. Focusing on the wellbeing and safety of our students, families and colleagues, the Woodlynde campus will be closed starting Monday, March 16, with plans to return to school after Spring Break on March 31. All school activities scheduled during that time, including all co-curricular programs, have been cancelled.
Today and tomorrow, Woodlynde’s teaching colleagues are finalizing their distance learning plans. You will be hearing more details tomorrow from your Assistant Head of School for your grade. On Monday, March 16, we will begin distance learning and you will hear directly from your child's teachers.
Spring Break will begin on Friday afternoon, March 20. We discourage Woodlynde families from international travel during the break. Community members who return from CDC Level 3 warning countries are prohibited from returning to campus, even if symptom-free, for 14 days. We also urge caution and careful judgement for personal domestic travel.
As always, please continue to utilize the page we have set up on the website with the latest COVID-19-related information and planning; you will find the page on the school’s Resource Board. Please also know that we are here to answer your questions.
This is a challenging time for us all, with new information to be navigated each day. The care, professionalism, and commitment of our Woodlynde colleagues will continue as they focus on your child’s education and well-being through our distance learning plan next week. I could not be more proud of our community. The dedication and professionalism has so clearly been demonstrated by our colleagues during this difficult time. Today, they came together to teach, mentor and coach as we all prepare for the week ahead. Their commitment to your children and Woodlynde School was evident as they worked together to carefully craft meaningful plans.
Thank you for all your support and understanding. Together we will manage this unprecedented situation.
All my best,
