In his one year as Interim Head of School, Mr. King has accomplished many goals for Woodlynde. He has worked hard with faculty, staff, fellow administrators, and parents to make our school stand out and move up to the next level.

Mr. King came out of retirement last year after completing his previous job as Headmaster at Moravian Academy in Bethlehem, PA. He said at Woodlynde, he has enjoyed the positive interactions with students, the supportive parents, and every aspect of the school.

“I have not for a moment regretted coming out of retirement for this job,” he said.

Because of Mr. King, many goals have been accomplished this year, such as creating the alumni wall in the lobby, a new user-friendly website, a new admissions viewbook, and helping to raise over $1 million for the huge campus renovation project.

Life away from his home in Dallas, Texas, has been time consuming for Mr. King. He said he worked 10 to 12 hours every day of the work week.

Mr. King considers himself to be a goal oriented person and he feels satisfied that he accomplished what he set out to do when he was hired as Interim Head to replace
Dr. Fulco, who left last year. Mr. King is especially thankful for his leadership team and all the people he has worked with to make the school a better community.

His biggest goal for Woodlynde is for the school to stand out on the independent school market so that more people can recognize our school and how valuable Woodlynde’s educational system is.

After he leaves next month, Mr. King plans to pursue his passion as a musician, composing and performing music. He plans on forming a jazz quartet, as well. He also plans to devote some of his time to two other passions: photography and showing his BMW at club events and concourses.

Most importantly, he will spend more time with his wife after working so far away from home and only seeing her once a month this school year.

In the future, Mr. King said he plans to come back to visit Woodlynde when the construction project is over.

Dean of Students
Mr. Shank had high praise for Mr. King, saying, “I think when he was first hired, he was given many tasks by the board and by the end, he will probably finish that list. We were very lucky to find such a wise man. He’s just been a wealth of knowledge to help us on a daily basis.”
