During a recent faculty meeting, it was pointed out that the Middle School hallway outside of the lobby could use some “pepping up.” Mrs. Moldofsky, Director of the Literacy Institute at Woodlynde, jumped at the opportunity and suggested the idea of a Woodlynde art gallery wall.

“I have wanted to have student artwork all over the building [since] my first years at Woodlynde,” Mrs. Moldofsky said. “We have talented students and need to showcase some of their work.”

Middle Schoolers Maggie Russell, Paige Clemmer, and Lucy Imprescia volunteered to help hang the initial art pieces on the wall. Art teacher Mr. Psulkowski also brought up a portfolio of student work for Mrs. Moldofsky to add.

“It feels really good to know that other people are seeing [my art],” Lucy said about being included on the art wall. “It gives me a sense of fulfillment. I think it’s also cool to look back on what you did.”

The wall includes works from a variety of art categories and mediums done by Woodlynde artists in grades 6-12. Some of the art displayed includes works of painting, drawing, photography and wire sculpting.

Mrs. Moldofsky invites any Woodlynde artist who would like their art displayed on the art wall to share their work with her. She also is looking for help in the future to rotate pieces.

“The more students who participate, the more art we can rotate and display. I’m trying to include as many student artists as possible. We will rotate the works so that it is more alive than static,” Mrs. Moldofsky said.
