It’s back to the drawing board for the Head of School search.

None of the four candidates interviewed by the Woodlynde community were selected for the job. As a result, the search continues for the next Head of School.

A statement from Woodlynde’s Board of Trustees released on Oct. 11th says, “After much thoughtful consideration, the Search Committee has reached the conclusion that while these four candidates brought terrific sets of experiences and competencies, no single candidate had the combination of skills we believe are necessary to both lead — and importantly, advance — Woodlynde.

“Thus, we will continue to work with our Carney, Sandoe & Associates consultants to find the visionary who can lead and advance this special school community with such an exciting future.

“In fact, they are already hard at work identifying new candidates that they will present to the Search Committee in the coming months.”

Therefore, the search for a new Head of School is still very much in progress. That means visits from new candidates and more teacher and student sitdowns.

Woodlynde School is undergoing the process of hiring a new Head of School after the departure of longtime Head
Dr. Fulco, and the upcoming departure of Interim Head Mr. King at the end of the school year.

The Woodlynde community had the opportunity to meet four candidates for the Head of School job who were chosen by Woodlynde’s Search Committee.

Each of them visited for two days over the last month and talked to teachers, administrators, student representatives, parents, board members and alumni.

The school is putting a great deal of thought and effort into the search and is making sure that the best person for the job is picked.

Science teacher
Mr. Prontnicki, who is a member of the Search Committee, said of the decision to keep searching for a Head of School:

“I agree wholeheartedly with the decision that we [the Woodlynde Search Committee] came up with. I thought this was the way to go, but I am a little torn because there is more work to be done. Not just work from me, but the whole school.”
