The Streetlights are blowing up in popularity at Woodlynde.

The Streetlights are a collection of Woodlynde students who formed a band that plays punk-pop music. You might have heard or seen this talented group of Woodlynders — mainly consisting of senior Wyatt Migliaccio, and juniors Connor Vail and Sam Deacon — jamming out in the hallway near Dr. Simmons’ music room.

Last year, Wyatt noticed that Connor plays bass, and suggested that Connor should record some bass lines for him and his solo project. Connor agreed. But after countless attempts to find time to hang out and play with the busy Wyatt, nothing came of it.

Then at the beginning of this school year, Wyatt told Connor that they should get together and make some music and Connor said sure. And then Sam came along and they said, “We could make a band out of this.”

So with Wyatt on main vocals, Connor on backup vocals and bass, and Sam playing guitar, they did, calling themselves “The Streetlights.”

This name came from Wyatt’s mom, who asked one day, “How do people come up with band names? Do they just look at something random like a streetlight and say, ‘I’m going to call my band The Streetlights’?”

And Wyatt responded with, “Yeah.”

The Streetlights got their first gig at the Pickering Creek Inn in Phoenixville, on Oct. 27th. The place was packed, including
some Woodlynde students, along with friends and parents of the band.

Connor said, “At one point I screamed, ‘We are the Streetlights!’, and I had a rush of adrenaline and happiness.”

Wyatt said, “I was nervous, going up with a lot of butterflies, but fortunately nothing really went wrong.”

After the performance, people came up to
Wyatt and the band praising their lyrics and hook writing. Other than the mediocre drummer, slight audio problems, and the band not getting the French fries they had ordered, the gig went amazing.

The Streetlights have their own booking agent and are working on getting more gigs. The band had a fill-in drummer but it didn’t work out. They hope to get an official drummer soon. In the meantime, senior
Jason Swinney will record some drumlines for them.

They also have a new addition to the band named Mary, who is an amazing singer. Mary also has a lot of connections from when she had a solo career and played about two gigs a month.

Now the Streetlights are finalizing a deal for a basement show in December.

They are also working on recording their songs for an upcoming EP named “Universal Television,” which was going to be the name of Wyatt's solo project until he co-founded the Streetlights.

The five-song EP is scheduled to drop in December and it will contain original songs including, “The Fall” and “I Open My Mouth and with that Comes a Wave of Dark Clouds.”

They have artwork and snippets of unreleased songs on the band’s Instagram @TheStreetlightOffical.
