Executive Functions
Executive Functions – a set of neurological skills whereby we utilize sensory information and thought processes in order to act within the world. This includes starting, modulating, and stopping behaviors. While different researchers may provide differing numbers of executive processes, a reasonable list would include: task initiation, impulse control or response inhibition, emotional or affective control, flexible or novel problem solving, goal-directed persistence, planning, organization, time management, working memory, metacognition.
