Fine-Motor Development

Fine-Motor Development – refers to the growth and refinement of small muscle movements, particularly those involving the hands and fingers, and enabling precise and coordinated actions. Includes hand-eye coordination, dexterity, strength and control, bilateral coordination, and hand and finger movements (e.g., pinching, grasping, twisting, turning). Occupational Therapists often intervene for deficits in fine-motor development.
