Social (Pragmatic) Language Disorder

Social (Pragmatic) Language Disorder – a new diagnosis to the DSM-5, and is used to more accurately represent individuals with significant deficits in verbal and nonverbal communication for social purposes, leading to impairments in their ability to effectively communicate, participate socially, maintain social relationships, or otherwise perform academically or occupationally. While these individuals may experience many of the social deficits characteristic of Autism Spectrum Disorder, they do not display significant impairments associated with restrictive and repetitive behaviors and interests.
