Speech or Language Impairment
Speech or Language Impairment – typically diagnosed by a Speech and Language Pathologist, is a type of communication disorder that affects a person’s ability o understand, produce, or use language effectively. The impairment can manifest in various ways including speech impairments (e.g., articulation disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders), language impairments (e.g., expressive language disorders, receptive language disorders, mixed expressive-receptive language disorders), and can include multiple characteristics and symptoms (e.g., delayed speech development, difficulty following directions, challenges with grammar, limited vocabulary, incoherent speech, or difficulty socializing).
