Head of School Search Update from Elizabeth Maglio

Dear Woodlynde School Community,

As chair of the Head of School Search Committee, I am reaching out to provide an update on the search process. Our goal is to be as inclusive and transparent as possible with the greater community, so we will be providing these updates throughout the search process.
The past two months have been very busy for the Search Committee. When we last touched base, Skip Kotkins and Brandon Jacobs from Carney Sandoe & Associates were visiting Woodlynde and hearing from all constituents, a very crucial part of the process to find the next leader of Woodlynde School.

Those conversations, along with your survey responses, have been invaluable as those of us on the Search Committee work to understand your thoughts and our community’s needs. We spent time with the consultants reviewing and discussing your feedback to create our head of school position description, and subsequently participated in an implicit bias training as a committee.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey, have a conversation with Skip and Brandon, or share your perspective with us.

We are pleased to share that there has been robust interest in the Head of School position from many highly qualified candidates. Brandon and Skip have been in contact with more than 40 individuals, and ultimately more than 30 candidates completed an application for the position. Carney Sandoe also contacted every person suggested via the survey or by word of mouth.

At this time, the Search Committee is evaluating submissions from the top candidates and will interview semifinalists in the coming weeks. We anticipate that 3 or 4 finalist candidates will come to campus and meet our community during the weeks of January 29, 2024 and February 5, 2024.

We will provide additional information about meetings with finalist candidates in our next update sometime after January 22. For up-to-date information, you can always visit the Head of School Search homepage.

On behalf of the Search Committee, thank you for your input, collaboration, and partnership as we continue to work toward identifying the next Head of School for Woodlynde School.

Feel free to reach out to me at headsearch@woodlynde.org at any time should you have any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Elizabeth Maglio
