From Woodlynde Head of School

Welcome to Woodlynde School, one of the nation’s leading coeducational independent schools for students in grades K-12 who learn differently!
At Woodlynde, our robust college preparatory program, delivered by expert and caring teachers, is individualized, challenging, and supportive. Our curriculum is focused on providing academic rigor, with 100% of our seniors accepted into college. Our national reputation for excellence in literacy education is reflected in our designation as one of a select few Wilson® Accredited Partner Schools in the country. Our strategic learning support programs empower students with the tools they need to achieve in the classroom and beyond. Our commitment to social and emotional learning and a wide array of athletics, arts, clubs, leadership, and travel programs ensure that our students develop into mature, confident young adults. And, our over four decades of Woodlynde alumni have achieved success in college, career, and life.

Our mission clearly articulates our vision for each student:

Woodlynde School welcomes and serves students who learn differently and empowers them to become strategic thinkers and self-advocates in a challenging and supportive college preparatory environment.

Since 1976, Woodlynde School has transformed the lives of thousands of students and their families, including my own, and I am thrilled to now also be a part of that legacy of success as Woodlynde’s fifth Head of School.

In addition to all the outstanding academic attributes I noted above, I believe what truly differentiates Woodlynde from any other school is that student and family well-being are central to all that we do. At Woodlynde, our community is grounded in thoughtful connections and thrives through positive relationships. From my very first moments visiting Woodlynde’s campus as a prospective parent five years ago to my son’s graduation with the Class of 2019, I have experienced firsthand a culture of care and warmth of community that have made Woodlynde our son’s and our family’s educational home.

As the parent of a proud Woodlynde alumni, I know why this school is a leader in college prep education for students who learn differently. Academic rigor is enhanced with individualized learning support. Whole-child development is made real through expansive co-curricular activities and social and emotional learning embedded into all that we do. By building upon their learning strengths and increasing their levels of independence, Woodlynde students emerge as prepared and confident learners and self-advocates. And through its vibrant array of family programs, Woodlynde has been there not just for my son, but for our whole family as well.

Woodlynde is now also entering an exciting time for our community as we launch our transformational campus project, the scope and scale of which will provide us with a 21st century environment that fully supports and reflects the quality of education that has been a hallmark of Woodlynde School for over 40 years.
I am excited to be part of this transformational time for Woodlynde and encourage you to take a deeper look at what it means to be part of this amazing community. As you get to know Woodlynde, I am confident that you will experience, just as I did, the warmth, commitment, and educational excellence that you are striving to find for your child. Whether you explore us further through our web site, attend an admissions open house, or schedule your own personalized campus tour, you will see students who are completely immersed in their own learning, teachers who know them well and genuinely care about them as students and as people, and a community waiting to welcome you to your child’s new educational home.

I hope to see you on campus and look forward to meeting you soon.
