From the second our group arrived at the airport, to the final flight home, the Peru trip was one that our students and faculty advisors will not forget! Peru is an absolutely beautiful country and has so much to offer locals and visiting tourists.
Our students were immediately intrigued by the differences in the homes, the way people dressed, the markets, and by many of Peru's cultural attractions. Our group had the opportunity to work with a local organization that took them into the heart of a shanty town in Lima, where we helped with two different service projects for the local community and school. Our students also explored the beach at Lima, checked out local markets in Cusco, traveled to a few of the local Inca reserves, and experienced the wonder and beauty of Machu Picchu. Traveling to another country is always an eye-opening experience, especially for those who have never been out of the United States.
These trips abroad help our students get a glimpse of the wider world, become more aware of people who may have a different lifestyle or do not share the same traditions, and find strength in learning that they can do new and exciting things on their own and be successful at it!
